Handmade miniature worlds, crafted one tiny piece at a time.

I'm Colorado artist Ericka VanHorn, and I've been creating miniatures since at least 1995.

My journey into miniatures began while I was studying Geology and Archaeology and working in a small gift shop. Looking for something creative to do during quiet hours, I started making miniature books. Before long, people began buying them, and what started as something to pass the time grew into a miniature business that has been part of my life for more than 30 years.

Today, I create handmade 1/12 scale miniatures inspired by history, nature, travel, fantasy, and the wonderfully strange. My work includes miniature leather books, apothecary pieces, potions, celestial instruments, butterflies and specimens, curiosities, reliquaries, wands, scrolls, and other objects imagined for tiny worlds.

Each piece is made by hand, often using real materials and traditional techniques, with an emphasis on tiny details that reward a closer look. I love creating objects that feel as though they have a history of their own, as if they were discovered in an old library, forgotten apothecary, or cabinet of curiosities.

After more than three decades of making miniatures, I still have far more ideas than I have room on my workbench for. And that, I think, is part of the fun.
